We bring creatives and designers together to team up with social initiatives for a hackathon and create some really awesome stuff. And you should join us.

It’s an event in collaboration with Beirut Design Week 2017 and organisations working on social issues in Lebanon. We are exploring the crucial role of designers in shaping social ventures in their early stages and getting things OFF THE GROUND.

The participants are local and international designers & creatives from all disciplines and backgrounds. OFF THE GROUND is for everyone who cares about social impact and beautiful, awesome things working really well.

We want to prove that design thinking can provide the solution for complex, user centric problems. You want to contribute to something meaningful and achieve real change, so this your chance to get involved and help to kickstart something cool.

Are you a designer or creative?

Participate in the OFF THE GROUND hackathon as a creative maker of things. If you design brands, interfaces, user experiences, products, illustrate or create motion graphics, shoot movies, take photos, document stuff, work with concepts, colour, form, motion or just enjoy pretty things working well, we want to hear from you.

What's your social initiative?

We want you to be curious and care about what you do. The rest will fall into place with the support of our team and the designers eager to take your project OFF THE GROUND. Tell us about your idea and the impact you want to achieve. You don‘t really know where to begin? Did you always want to work with designers but just don’t really know what their value is?

What's in it for you?

Design Thinking

Learn how to apply design thinking methods to find the best design solution for a problem and create something users love. The amazing folks from MakeSense have years of experience and will be on hand with help and advice at all times. Like, all the time.

We put design at the heart and aim to re-design people’s relationships with the world around them. The hand picked social initiatives are dying to make an impact in Lebanon and with your talent you can become the person enabling them to do exactly that.

Larger Network

The starting field of people involved in the hackathon will make you not want to leave again. Finding your creative soul mate won’t be the problem. Picking which one you first want to start working with on the next project seems like the actual challenge.

Making a Difference

Surely you walked around the streets or read an article about the state of the world and thought: “Why am I still not doing anything about it?” or you never knew how or where to start? This is how and where and we have all the ingredients ready.

About us

We met during one of Martin’s trips to Beirut and wanted to work on great projects together ever since. We both participated in social hackathons before and absolutely loved the unique form of collaboration, which is why we now want to bring this experience to Lebanon.
